Pro wrestling involves a lot of maneuvers that look dangerous and can do actual damage if applied in real life with force. Wrestlers usually take great care to maintain the aura around their moves while at the same time ensuring their opponent isn’t legitimately hurt. Some moves like the Pile Driver or the Boston Crab can be really painful to even look at. However, popular UFC personality Joe Rogan recently said he isn’t a fan of an iconic wrestling move which belongs to a legendary wrestler Ric Flair.
Ric Flair is one of the complete wrestlers in the history of the business. From his style to his mic work and his wrestling ability, he was a wrestler’s wrestler. To back up his trash-talking, he had one of the best move sets in pro wrestling. This included his iconic finisher, the Figure Four submission hold.

Joe Rogan thinks Figure Four will be ineffective in real life
Long-term MMA fan and legendary UFC color commentator Joe Rogan doesn’t shy away from what he thinks. His outspoken nature may have landed him in the midst of the storm once more.
In a recent episode of his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, while talking with Rick Rubin, Rogan gave his opinion on Ric Flair’s famous signature move, the Figure Four leg-lock. Flair won many of his matches and championships using the move. Also, most of the time, his opponents made it look really painful. But it seems Rogan isn’t a fan of this submission hold.

On his podcast, he said, “A bunch of [pro] wrestlers got mad at me… I was trying to explain how dumb a figure-four leg lock was because I was like he was literally giving up an inside heel hook”.
Rogan, who is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt himself, further elaborated that the hold would be ineffective in a real-life situation of competition. He added, “It doesn’t work. It’s funny in that regard, you know, you are doing this thing, but this thing in the real world is the worst thing you do.”

Although Rogan doesn’t like his Figure-Four hold, he still is a huge fan of the ‘Nature Boy’ gimmick. He talked about Flair’s iconic catchphrase, ‘WOOOOO’, and said how it has been influential for many years. He appreciated the effect and connection it still has with the audience across many generations.
