Scott D’Amore’s attempt to buy TNA was rebuffed by Anthem and later led to his departure
D’Amore started his career as an enhancement talent in 1993. He worked for WCW and the WWE while touring multiple independent promotions. He soon moved on to the role of a booker and producer for multiple promotions in Canada. Among the promotions he worked for, Border City Wrestling has been his baby since its foundation in 1993. Today, BCW is a partner with Impact Wrestling. In 2003, he joined TNA as a road agent. He also worked backstage as a creative team member and trainer. In 2017, he took over the role of Head of Creative, and in 2023, he was promoted to the President of Impact Wrestling. On February 7, 2024, it was announced that D’Amore’s contract with TNA was terminated.

This came as a result of D’Amore pushing for a bigger budget, which Anthem did not want to provide. The idea behind D’Amore’s push was to expand the product and get wrestlers like Will Ospreay on the show because of the recent increase in popularity.

According to sources close to D’Amore, he also wanted to buy the company for $10 million plus clearing all the existing debt. The Canadian believed that an offer ranging from $7 million to $12 million represented a fair valuation of the promotion. However, Anthem did not push for a counteroffer and turned it down cold. Despite all of this, many wrestling fans believe the recent increase in TNA’s popularity should be credited to D’Amore.
