Ronda Rousey had an exciting first year in WWE that saw her debut at WrestleMania 34. Almost a year later, she was in the main event of WrestleMania 35 defending her RAW Women’s title. After the match, The Rowdy One took a hiatus from WWE due to personal reasons. One of the main causes for taking time away from the ring was her intention to start a family. Her family is an important aspect of her life and she reiterated this again during her feud with Natalya earlier this year.

Rousey has had a mixed bag when it comes to winning over the crowd. WWE’s booking of the Baddest Woman on the Planet has left fans in a limbo as to whether she is a face or a heel. It has also been conflicting for the current SmackDown Women’s Champion. But what is clear to her is her intention of having kids and a well-rounded family.
Ronda Rousey said she would not pass up having kids
Being a WWE star means spending a lot of time on the road and away from your loved ones. This is a huge sacrifice to make for many who aspire to be WWE superstars. As her first run with the company was coming to an end, Ronda Rousey said one of the reasons for her departure was that she wanted to start a family with her husband Travis Browne.
Shortly after losing in the main event of WrestleMania 35, Rousey left WWE and said she wanted to have a kid. After giving birth and spending time with her child, she returned to WWE to win the Royal Rumble earlier this year. Since then, she has also won the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice. During her first reign in the summer, she feuded with her former partner Natalya for the title.
In a recent video posted on Rousey’s YouTube channel, the former UFC Champion addressed Natalya during their feud after she had questioned her commitment to being the champion. Rousey again showed a clear mind when choosing between her family and profession. She said, “Nattie you’re right. I don’t want this as much as you. Unlike you, I’m not going to pass up having kids. Not miss a day of wrestling in 10 years.”

It is obvious that Rousey values having kids and a family more than her career at this point. This is also in contrast to tennis icon Serena Williams, who retired in August and she didn’t want to choose between her career and family. In her article on Vogue, she wrote, “I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair.” She also added, “I definitely don’t want to be pregnant again as an athlete. I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out.”

However, for Rousey, her family and children will take precedence over her career and she has gone out of her way to point that more than once. For the time being, WWE fans can enjoy her presence before she decides to spend more time with her family and take time away from the ring.
