After a stellar performance from Logan Paul and Ricochet as the opener for SummerSlam 2023, it was followed by a highly intense match between Cody Rhodes, and Brock Lesnar. Both Rhodes and Lesnar have been in a heated rivalry for months now.

And, as soon as the match between the two began, it took a violent note. After suffering brutal punishment at the hands of Brock Lesnar, with several suplexes, and a Kimura lock, Rhodes would still come out on top. However, the finish was instead hated by the fans, and they let know their disappointment.

Fans left disappointed despite Cody Rhodes defeating Brock Lesnar

Although The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes earned himself a hard-fought victory over Lesnar, he could not satisfy the fans. Even after enduring brutal punishment at the hands of Lesnar, Rhodes would still emerge as the winner.

He would snatch the victory with a trifecta of Cross-Rhodes. The finish fell flat and came up suddenly, and lefts were left in disbelief as to how easily could Lesnar was pinned with no significant damage in the entire match. Although Rhodes won, he lost a lot of support from a lot of fans.

After a show-stealing opening match between Paul and Ricochet, Rhodes and Lesnar failed to earn the interest of the fans and, instead gave a lackluster match with a predictable and weak finish.

However, after the finish, Rhodes would earn the respect of Brock Lesnar, as The Beast Incarnate raised Rhodes’ hand inside the ring. Unfortunately, this means less in his way to finish his story. Rhodes returned at WrestleMania 38 to finish his story, but possibly losing the support of the fans could be a major step down that path.
