WWE is planning something big for November. This year’s Crown Jewel is going to take place in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, again like every year. But this time, fans will get to witness something special. In the hope of uniting wrestling and soccer fans, and also drawing a plethora of attraction, the promotion is working to secure an appearance by Portuguese soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

The $21.4 billion TKO merger became official mere days ago and Endeavor has already devised plans to bolster the profits by bringing the soccer giant to the next big Premium Live Event in Saudi Arabia. The star who plays for Saudi Arabian soccer team Al Nassr will be a marquee attraction if he turns up for the PLE in November.

After the UFC-WWE merger, the news of WWE being interested in having the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as a special guest at Crown Jewel this year started circulating all over social media. Just a day ago, en.as.com reportedly confirmed that this is indeed happening, and the promotion is ready to pay a heavy amount to make it happen.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is currently the captain of Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr. Choosing a world-class athlete as a special guest for an event scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia in November is bound to bring lots of eyes to the event.

Celebrity appearances in WWE are a common occurrence. The sports entertainment giant never shies away from splurging when it comes to booking a globally renowned personality for its events. That said, do you know that Ronaldo’s former coach had an appearance in WWE many years ago?

The time when Cristiano Ronaldo’s former coach was insulted on WWE TV

José Mourinho, Ronaldo’s former coach at Real Madrid, was a guest on Raw many years ago. On the April 23, 2007 edition of Raw, WWE went live from the UK. That night, one of the best soccer coaches sat in the crowd with his two kids.

On the show, Mourinho had a segment with Shane McMahon, who chose to insult the current head coach of Italian Serie A club Roma. McMahon laid some heavy insults on him and even challenged him to a match on the show.

He said, Wait a minute, I know you. That’s Jose Mourinho, the head coach, if you will, of the Chelsea Football game… What do you say? Uh-uh… you don’t want any of this.”

Unfortunately, fans didn’t get to see much drama that day. It was because WWE did not give Mourinho a chance to respond to McMahon’s insults during the event. Nonetheless, the entire segment was very interesting to watch. Maybe if Ronaldo appears in Saudi Arabia, WWE will let him have a segment of his own segment on WWE programming. Ronaldo fans will be keeping their fingers crossed.
