AEW and Tony Khan are currently direct competitors to one of the largest wrestling promotions in the entire world, WWE. Over the years, since its inception, WWE has created one of the largest fan-bases in the world, and has evolved into an International giant, having offices in Europe and Asia alike.

However, AEW is just a new company, and is yet to reach such a stage as WWE. Interestingly, Tony Khan and his family already have a business venture in the United Kingdom. Tony Khan’s father, Shahid Khan, is the owner of the English football club, Fulham FC.

Khan purchased the football club in 2013, and since then has been its owner. With ties in The United Kingdom, Tony Khan was particularly dejected at the recent passing away of the legendary English football commentator John Motson.

Motson’s death broke Tony Khan’s heart, and he went onto write a heartful tribute letter to the English commentator. Khan wrote, “Goodbye John Motson. The football world’s lost its voice + one of its friendliest faces. He was a kind person with an encyclopedic football mind.”

Motson was born in 1945, and died on 23rd February 2023, aged 77. Motson was one of the most respected personalities in the Football world, and had also received an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his service to sports broadcasting.

The entire world, and especially the football/soccer community, will remember Motson forever. We would also like to send good wishes to Motson’s family during their tough times.

Is AEW President Tony Khan responsible for the rising heat between WWE and AEW?

Often in football, players change clubs, and sometimes they make a move directly to their opponent’s team, especially derby opponents. Similarly, wrestlers changing ship from WWE to AEW, is often seen as the same.

Ever since AEW popped up as a direct competition to WWE, there has been a lot of heat between the two promotions. Several former WWE superstars jumped ship from WWE to AEW due to lack of creativity at the former. These superstars often took shots at WWE while working for AEW.

However, at WWE nobody took direct public shots at Tony Khan’s AEW. Recently, Tony Khan himself started a “War” between WWE and AEW, claiming that it would help generate content.

Several wrestlers denied from participating in this negative promotion and even called Khan out for his actions. Fans will now need to wait and see if Tony Khan moves forward from his antics, and behaves in a much more mature manner, or if he keeps hanging on to it. Executives from WWE are yet to act on his statements.
