Is Smackdown’s Mystery Man Related to RETRIBUTION?

WWE shocked the entire world tonight on RAW. The notorious group, RETRIBUTION, finally revealed its leader, and its none other than Mustafa Ali! But is this the end? Or is there more to the story?

After the reveal of Mustafa Ali as the leader, some fans think there is more than meets the eye. Just before the pandemic hit WWE, there was a great storyline on SmackDown about a hacker. However, the storyline was inexplicably dropped from the shows.

With a series of videos, the ominous figure threatened that “the truth will be heard” and how he was everywhere at all times. He could have been a real threat to WWE, spilling all its secrets for the world to see.

When the Retribution first appeared on WWE, people, by default, thought that they were related to the mystery hacker (flickering lights, ominous message, threat to expose WWE).

However, as the weeks passed by, Retribution slowly revealed themselves to the world. Eventually, their connection to the mystery man was forgotten.

Is Mystery Man related to RETRIBUTION after all?

Nevertheless, after Mustafa Ali revealed that he is part of the Retribution stable, fans started to think again. Even the announcers wondered aloud if Ali has been behind the group all along. This is the first time Ali turned heel in his WWE career.

Ali took a seven-month hiatus from WWE SmackDown following Survivor Series last year. The Mystery Hacker vignettes started airing in May before they abruptly stopped after almost a month. Ali made his return to the ring on Raw in July. Was this a ploy to keep him in the dark all-along?

Ali debuted in WWE back in 2016 in the Cruiserweight division. Due to his immense popularity, he was shifted to the main roster in 2018. He faced various main-eventers like Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, and Randy Orton. However, his downfall began as he kept losing title opportunities and crucial matches.

It is unlikely that within four-five years, Ali found WWE’s secrets. This is the main reason why fans believe there is more to the story and there could be someone else helping Retribution.
