On a surprising note, released WWE superstar Zelina Vega returned to WWE SmackDown (7/2). Vega was released last year ahead of one such Friday Night SmackDown.

While the reason for her release remains mysterious, Vega is back. WWE Official Sonya Deville introduced her as the second surprise entrant in the upcoming Money the Bank ladder match.

Calling her “one of the most dynamic and driven superstars,” Sonya welcomed Zelina back into the ring. Vega came down, and she was still a heel as she talked about winning the contract and a title in the future as she will cash it in on an unsuspecting and vulnerable champion.

However, Liv Morgan cut short Vega’s homecoming celebration. Morgan called out Sonya for giving out chances to random people like Carmella and Vega when they have done nothing significant.

Zelina then revealed that she has been wrestling for a long time to deserve the shot. Calling herself as “one of the most popular WWE Superstars in history,” Vega claimed she could run circles around Liv, embarrassing her and showing what an amateur Liv is.

Zelina Vega loses her first match on her return to WWE

Morgan challenged her to a match to prove her worth. Sonya Deville quickly made it official and Liv Morgan and started it off with a slap. Both women exchanged some quick shots as fellow Money in the Bank entrant Carmella watched from backstage.

However, the match did not last long as Liv Morgan won with a roll-up. This was Morgan’s third consecutive win following Carmella. Vega was shocked as she lost her first match upon return.

This run would likely be Vega’s first proper singles run. She served as the manager of former WWE superstar Andrade and Angel Garza on RAW before they split up.

Ahead of her initial firing, Zelina was getting prepared for her singles run and even had a title match against then-RAW Women’s Champion Asuka. She was then transferred to SmackDown and was subsequently released.

To conclude, WWE will continue the original planned run of Vega on her second coming as well. In the Money in The Bank match, Vega joined Asuka, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Cross, and Carmella.
