After six long years, New Day fans were forced to confront the day they knew would come but were not ready for. The seven-time SmackDown tag team champions are separated and will now compete on different brands.
The only constant in the world is change and the WWE draft has proven that law to be true. In the final hour of the show, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura defended their tag team titles against the returning Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the New Day.

The match ended with Kingston and Woods picking the victory and becoming seven-time SmackDown tag team champions. Unfortunately, happiness and joy didn’t last for very long.
As The New Day celebrated, Stephanie McMahon walked out to announce round four of tonight’s draft. The first shock came in when McMahon announced Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston were drafted to Monday Night Raw.

The bigger or biggest shock came to the group when Stephanie McMahon announced that SmackDown and FOX had chosen Big E as a singles competitor.
The New Day separation will help build Big E as a singles star
Two months ago, on Friday Night SmackDown, Kofi Kingston got added to the injury list after Xavier Woods. With Kingston’s blessing, Big E started his singles run.
Honestly, his run as a singles competitor hasn’t really been great. He started off by winning a few squash matches and then got into a rivalry with Sheamus.
The rivalry had no title or no real direction and just felt like a mid-card filler for the blue brand. However, getting drafted to SmackDown as a singles superstar can open a whole new bucket of opportunities for Big E.

If one watched NXT almost half a decade back, they know what Big E is capable of. Big E is one of the most dominant champions the Black and Gold brand has ever seen.
