WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has his eyes set on a new opponent after defeating Kevin Owens in the ‘last man standing’ match at Royal Rumble. As seen on this week’s SmackDown, Reigns wanted Edge to acknowledge him.

Reigns opened the show as he came out with Paul Heyman and Jey Uso. He said he was a man of his word as he beat Owens at the Rumble. However, he was done with the past and “the future is Edge.”

As all roads lead to WrestleMania after the Royal Rumble, the ‘Tribal Chief‘ wondered why the winner, Edge, was wasting his time on RAW and NXT when the true ‘main-eventer’ was on SmackDown.

This brought him to his second issue – why was he out first instead of the challenger? Post that, Heyman tried to cajole the technicians to announce Edge, but the ‘Rated-R superstar‘ was not there yet.

Reigns and his tribe were not there to play games and gave an ultimatum, “you (Edge) need to understand this because this is your only chance, you’re going to give your decision by the end of the night.”

Edge gets Roman Reigns a surprise visitor

Edge made his way into the building much later. In the main event of the night, he came back to SmackDown after three years.

For seven months, he had trained and rehabilitated only for this moment. He dreamt of “winning Royal Rumble, of main eventing WrestleMania. I dreaming of taking back something I never lost.”

However, now he had to make a choice.

“Which champion do I choose? It’s an embarrassment of riches. Do I choose WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, or WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns?”

Just when he was about to choose, Reigns came out with his pack. After Edge ridiculed him, Reigns sent Uso and Heyman outside the ring.

Acknowledge me, acknowledge as the main event of WrestleMania. Acknowledge as the Champion of choice. Say my name.

As Reigns backed off and ordered Edge to choose his opponent, Kevin Owens attacked him out of nowhere with a stunner.

Edge looked on, Owens left the ring and Reigns lay flat on the mat. Edge placed the mic beside Reigns and left the ring as SmackDown ended.

As reports have said earlier, Edge vs Roman Reigns might be on the cards and tonight’s show just laid the foundation for that rivalry.
