Most sports have an “off-season” where the performers relax for a while before embarking on a new season. However, wrestling is not like that. The wrestlers are on the road throughout the year, with barely a few weeks off. The Intercontinental Champion, Sami Zayn, turns out to be an advocate for adequate breaks.
Speaking to BT Sports, Zayn spoke about the importance of breaks in the life of wrestlers. Not only does it helps physically, but it also helps heal emotional stress and trauma. Wrestlers only get a break when they are injured; they have to worry about getting fired or paid less even then.

“I think a little bit of space is a great thing. I don’t run things, but if I did, I’d say it would be great if everybody on the roster had at least a month off every year. Just so that it gives the fans a chance to miss them, maybe even two months.”
According to Sami Zayn, it would give proper time to refresh the character and performers’ minds and bodies. While he understands the “off-season” might seem bad for business initially, it could be fruitful in the long run, “It would go a long way for both the performer and, the fans, and the product.”

Hence, the hectic schedule has made Zayn get away from wrestling. “It’s not what people want to hear nut when I’m away from wrestling; I like to be away from wrestling. It just gives me a chance to miss it,” the Great Liberator said.
The on-the-road life made Zayn forget how much he loved wrestling in the first place. That is the primary reason why he believes wrestlers should get a couple of months off. See the interview below –
