John Cena and Roman Reigns faced off in what seems the fight of the year at WWE SummerSlam 2021. The battle of egos, impending records, and dominance rose over all the other matches of the biggest event of the summer. However, it was Brock Lesnar who stole the show.

When Cena came back at Money in the Bank and challenged “The Tribal Chief,” the 16-time world champion turned Hollywood superstar made his intentions known. Cena was there to grab his 17th championship, the most in WWE history.

On the other hand, Reigns, who had a phenomenal undefeated run as the WWE Universal Champion, was not ready to give up his title so easily. After weeks of verbal fights and mind games on each other, Cena vs Reigns took place on the main event of SummerSlam on Saturday.

At first on the main event, Cena appeared. Then, Roman appeared with his full entourage i.e. with Paul Heyman, The Usos. Cena was welcomed with cheers, but Romans faced boos.

The two heavyweights locked horns but Reigna’s shoulder tackled Cena to the mat. Early on, Cena stayed true to his name and tried to sneak in early pin via roll-ups.

Reigns hit Cena with chops after breaking away from these pins.  Soon Roman took the fight outside of the ring and slammed Cena onto the steel steps. However, when Cena came back to the ring and attempted two other roll-ups.

However, John Cena soon tried to come back with punches but Roman flattened him with a chop. After another pin attempt from Cena, Roman put John Cena into the Guillotine Hold.

As Cena was fading away, he managed to get Reigns off his back after he slammed Reigns into the turnbuckle and a clothesline. With back-to-back tackles, Cena tried the five-knuckle shuffle. But Reigns hit the Superman Punch. After a while, Cena attempted another near fall following the Shuffle and AA.

The duo was now back at the ringside. Roman attempted a spear from the ringside, but Cena launched him onto the commentary board with another Attitude Adjustment.

Reigns could not believe his eyes. As the Beast Incarnate stared down The Tribal Chief. Reigns and Heyman left the ring in utter disbelief as the crowd cheered on.

The win does not come as a surprise after Friday’s SmackDown. WWE was not letting Reigns lose and eave WWE, but the return of Lesnar definitely is a massive surprise. We will have to keep our eyes on SmackDown to see what transpires next.
