At the 02/02 episode of SmackDown, it was revealed that Rhodes would be taking a step back so that Johnson could challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Fans since then have been angry about the whole situation as they feel Rhodes deserves the spot.
Since then, fans have started an online petition to show their support for Cody Rhodes. While it was something that could be considered harmless, fans started hijacking the comments sections of Dwayne Johnson’s social media posts, calling him out for the deed.
However, it is not just Ava Raine who called out the fans’ actions. There are other stars who have done the same.

While stars do love to see how much fans support them, a couple of them felt that things might have gotten out of hand. In a now-deleted- tweet, Raw star Sami Zayn pointed out that fans might have taken things too far. In the tweet, he mentioned that there are other “tragedies” happening around us and this makes the “wrestling drama” seem less important.

Zayn received massive backlash on his tweet which forced him to delete the tweets. Another star, Ricochet, weighed in on the situation as well. He mentioned in a tweet that while he is a massive supporter of Cody Rhodes in the situation, he believes that the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community) proved to be “toxic.” Have the fans over the internet taken their campaign way too far? Did Ava Raine, Sami Zayn, and other stars deserve the collateral damage caused by WWE’s creative decisions?
