WWE’s annual draft is upon us. Like every year, the draft will continue for two nights, beginning on SmackDown. Moreover, Stephanie McMahon will preside over both show’s drafts!
Just a few hours ahead of the first draft night, WWE and Fox Network unveiled the rules and Superstar pools.
As reported by WWE’s official website, more than 60 wrestlers are included in the overall draft pool, with 25 from SmackDown and 39 from Raw. WWE is not breaking up any groups as the tag teams and factions are collectively considered as one. As Raw runs for three hours to SmackDown’s two, it will receive three selections for every two picks from SmackDown.

NXT superstars are not included in the draft. It solidifies the fact that NXT is still considered a developmental roster despite several main roster stars.
The rules also state that any undrafted superstar will immediately be declared as a free agent. The Superstar(s) are free to sign with the brand of their choosing.

WWE Draft was relaunched after SmackDown became a separate brand in 2016. The drafts not only help in shaking things up but also pave the way for new characters, feuds, and alliances. Last year, Brock Lesnar, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and Roman Reigns got drafted. Needless to say, fans wait for SmackDown with baited breaths.
