Wade Barrett made his “return” to WWE after a long time. Although he is only a color commentator on NXT, his in-ring ambitions still surface from time to time. Recently, he took a jab at Drew McIntyre, and McIntyre has now spoken back.

The former Intercontinental Champion reflected on his WWE career and revealed that he used to bully a young McIntyre. He said, “I used to bully him. Kick the hell out of him. Pour cans of beans over him. He’d be in the corner crying, begging for mercy. As a man, he knows I can destroy him anytime. He knows I can batter him.”

He spoke from personal experience as he and McIntyre used to live together.

As the WWE Champion, McIntyre knows about the target on his back and replied to Barrett accordingly. In the reply, the Scottish Psychopath said that Barrett’s stand-in had a better chance than him.

Wade Barrett also said he would embarrass McIntyre whenever he is ready.

“This man is a tough, tough man, but the truth is, he knows I can batter him, and humiliate him. So, whenever I feel like I’m ready, it isn’t a question of Drew McIntyre calling me out. Whenever I’m ready, I can step in the ring and take whatever I want from him.”

Drew McIntyre is not worried about Wade Barrett

Wade Barrett left WWE back in 2016. As the leader of Nexus and a five-time Intercontinental Champion, Wade definitely made his mark. However, since his departure from WWE, Barrett has barely competed in a pro-wrestling ring. Earlier this year, he replaced Mauro Ranallo on commentary for NXT.

A former King of the Ring winner, Wade Barrett’s past opponents include John Cena, CM Punk, and Sheamus, all of whom are former WWE World Champions.

On the other hand, Drew McIntyre left WWE in 2014 and made a name in TNA and ICW. He re-signed with WWE in 2017 and won his first WWE title earlier this year at WrestleMania. Although not as a commentator, McIntyre also returned on NXT for his second run.

McIntyre’s current focus is on Randy Orton, who will challenge for the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell. However, the current WWE Champion would surely be open to welcoming Barrett back into the ring.

The “bullying” angle (as mentioned by Wade Barrett) is a good one and could be made into a great storyline. However, for now, we can do nothing but wait and see how things turn out at Hell in a Cell.
