Recently WWE went down the nostalgia road as they uploaded an old fight on the WWE Network. It was a match between Goldberg and Batista. This definitely was a treat for the WWE fans when two of the most powerful superstars in wrestling history collided with each other. Even back then ‘the Icon’ was a superstar and on his way to legendary status. However, Batista was a newcomer tipped to be a big superstar in the industry.

Golberg walked into the match on one and a half feet because of an ankle injury. Batista played smart and targeted that ankle throughout the match.
Towards the end, Goldberg was in full control of the match and was going in for the kill. However, Triple H’s interference caused the disqualification and then both superstars attacked Goldberg. However, the champ stood tall as he successfully warded off the dual-threat.

In October 2003, Triple H issued a $100,000 bounty to anyone who could take Goldberg out. The likes of Steven Richards, Mark Henry, La Résistance, and Tommy Dreamer tried, but they all were unsuccessful.
A few days later, on the October 20 edition of Raw, Batista collected the bounty. The Animal attacked Goldberg during his title defense against Shawn Michaels.
He placed a folding chair around Goldberg’s ankle and jumped off the middle rope onto the chair to shatter his ankle. Goldberg wanted revenge and demanded a match against Batista.
