Surprisingly, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T recently namedropped Mr. McMahon’s name on NXT. This was the first time WWE mentioned the former CEO’s name on a live show since July this year.
This came as a surprise for many fans as, because of the hush money allegations, in July, WWE won’t namedrop Vince McMahon on any show. Nevertheless, the six-time world champion mentioned Vinnie-Mac while remembering the greatest bookers in the business.
The former CEO of WWE was the captain of the company for four decades. This entire period brought and saw major changes in the business. He has alone witnessed the major ‘eras’ of pro wrestling as the Chairperson of WWE.

Mr. McMahon never considered NXT as a third brand!
In the past few years, NXT has become one of the most-watched brands of not only WWE but pro wrestling. Triple H took over the operations of the yellow brand and took it to new heights. However, irrespective of all those achievements, McMahon never saw NXT as a third brand of WWE.
Road Dogg on the recent episode of Oh…You Didn’t Know podcast shared Vince McMahon used to see NXT as a developmental division. He said, “I felt like Hunter thought about it as a third brand and I think once we got that TV deal, that’s a legitimate argument. You know what I mean?”

Dogg added, “This is a third revenue generator. So, is it a third brand? And so that’s definitely an argument to be made for that. I think Vince always saw it as developmental. Like oh, it’s small ball, and look, I think to his dismay, “
Road Dogg further added, “he did that a little bit but I think there was some professional rivalry… because NXT was young and shiny and all the internet people were talking how great it was and so, I totally understand.” (H/T Ringside News)
