WWE legend William Regal is one person who is very influential behind the scenes. Samoa Joe has been very vocal about his admiration for Regal as well.

Samoa Joe has done well for him after coming back
Joe was always a fan favorite. His release from WWE came as a tremendous shock to all. But he has actually gained more popularity following his return to the company. His recent feud with WWE NXT Champion Karrion Kross is arguably the best thing on NXT.
Some fans even feel that NXT is better than the main roster of RAW or SmackDown. We will leave that debate with the fans themselves.
