Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens returned to NXT tonight.
As announced earlier, Owens joined the commentary team with Vic Joseph and Beth Phoenix, as he filled in for Wade Barrett. Although it has been announced as a “one-time gig,” the timing is suspicious.

Last year, during the War Games match, Kevin Owens was the surprise last man for team Keith Lee, and he was able to tip the balance of the match and help them towards a win against Undisputed Era.
Owens had a rough year on RAW & SmackDown, thanks to Aleister Black and briefly, The Fiend. Now that his former rival Finn Balor returned to NXT as the Champion and reclaimed the top spot, it might lead to some other consequences.
Apart from this, Owens is well known for his mic skills and relatable content. This made him get a talk show on the main roster. Having him on the commentary will definitely be fun for the audience at home.

At Survivor Series, Kevin Owens and Team SmackDown were much more organized than Team RAW. With Owens as the “Captain”, things were looking up.
However, Seth Rollins decided to betray the team for the greater good and got eliminated. It went downhill from there as the team’s morale shattered.
