Around this time last year, WWE started pushing Rhea Ripley to crown her as the Women’s Champion. Since then, Mami has not only shown her dominance in the ring but has also won over the hearts of the majority of the audience. People appreciating Ripley’s talent from the audience are not only fans but also WWE legends like Bret Hart.
In a recent interview, Hart’s statement showed us that he has been keeping a keen eye on the Australian talent for a while now. Considering his status as an industry veteran, his words hold a good amount of weight and meaning.

Bret Hart has worked with many wrestlers during his prime years in the industry and has a good eye for talent. While talking to Fox Sports recently, Hart confessed that since Jim Barnett’s WCW era, no Australian-based wrestler had won his heart over. But he has a different opinion while talking about Rhea Ripley.
Hart said, “I really like her a lot. I really like her poise, her staying in character and sort of living her – she seems like she’s adapted a character that’s fun to play, and she’s playing into that, full tilt.” For starters, the WWE legend admires the dedication that The Eradicator puts into playing her character and how she becomes one with it. He also added, “She’s putting that realism into it; that’s what I miss in a lot of wrestling today, just making it feel more real, and she makes it feel pretty real all the time.”
These last lines tell us that not only her portrayal of the character but the authenticity she provides the audience with is something that should be appreciated more. While we can see Bret Hart voicing out his approval for the dominant Women’s Champion of WWE in this section of the interview, he also criticized another former WWE star in the same interview.

Bret Hart is best recognized in the pro wrestling industry for the ‘realism’ he used to put on display. Without landing a strike on his opponent, Hart made it look as real as possible. This is why he believes it to be an essential thing to note while wrestling against someone in the ring.

On the contrary, Bill Goldberg was known for being rather rough with his opponents in the ring. This is why Hart criticized his style. According to the 66-year-old, if anyone can’t go through a match without having to hurt their opponent in real life, then they don’t belong in the sport of pro wrestling.
