Dwayne Johnson is currently going through a rough patch. With several average movies and bad box-office collections, paired with XFL suffering a loss, and also a lawsuit in motion, these are not the best days for Dwayne Johnson.
However, despite Dwayne Johnson’s XFL undergoing a $60 million loss, it recently saw a promising update and gave football fans news to be excited about. It saw New York Giants special teams coach shift gears and join XFL’s Vegas Vipers as their head coach.
Is the bizarre change in coaching in Dwayne Johnson’s XFL something to celebrate?

XFL mostly consists of players who did not make the NFL draft and yesteryear coaches. However, this year, despite suffering a major blow of $60 million, Dwayne Johnson lifted the standard of the league. New York Giants Special team’s coach, Anthony Bevins was roped in as the head coach for Vegas Vipers.
In the 2023 season, Vegas Vipers finished last in the league, with a record of 2-8. Last month, on June 11th, 2023, the Vipers parted ways with their coach. The former Super Bowl Champion Rod Woodson only served for a solitary season with the team. Woodson’s disappointing performance led to the team parting ways with him, and bringing in Anthony Bevins as their head coach.
Bevins has proved himself capable of coaching a team after satisfactory performances with the New York Giants special team. Bevins said in a statement, “I watched the XFL last season, and I was incredibly impressed by the action on the field and the coaching on the sidelines. I’m looking forward to taking the next step in my career, and this a great opportunity to share my knowledge.”

Anthony Bevins joined Vegas Vipers as their new head coach with a lot of expectations and high hopes from the XFL and the management.
XFL executive vice president of football operations Marc Ross claimed, “He is a very bright coach who has made stops at every level of football from coaching high school in Atlanta to the Giants with collegiate and NFL stops in between. On top of his coaching experience, he knows what opportunity our league can provide to players and staff.”
Prior to being with the New York Giants, Bevins coaching assistant and special teams assistant for the Arizona Cardinals from 2013-17. Post which, he joined the Giants special team. From beginning his NFL career as a coaching assistant in 2013, to becoming a head coach for XFL in 2022, Bevins has come a long way.
