In a clip shared on Instagram by the official XFL account, The Brahma Bull talked about the two main reasons behind taking the decision. The first reason that he stated was that it was for his love of football. “To grow the game of football. It’s a game we all love.” While doing so, he stated that he wanted to create more opportunities for the people involved with the game. The second reason he stated was the state at which spring football has been for the last 30 years. “This is 30 years in spring football starting and stopping.” He believes that this merger will bring a stop to this state of spring football.

As Johnson and Garcia stated, this merger might change how spring football is seen and might find a permanent footing, right next to NFL. While it might look confusing on the surface, Garcia had revealed way back what their primary focus was in the first season.

Is XFL a profitable business for Dwayne Johnson?
In an interview back in September 2023, Garcia and Johnson talked about how their run as owners was in the first season. Garcia stated that they could not believe how many fans showed up for the matches. While they felt it might be difficult to promote the league as the players are not big names, fans showed support regardless. Apart from that, Garcia stated that the social media presence was something that they were not expecting.
She stated that XFL was a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter) and she could see the “chatter” about the league on the social media platform. The couple has stated in various interviews that earning profits in the first season was never their goal. According to them, the league will become cash flow positive in the next two to three years. As for now, they are trying to establish the league.
