Amid the series of releases, there is one good. Earlier today, NFL Star Pat McAfee revealed on his Twitter that he will be the new voice of SmackDown alongside veteran commentator Michael Cole. McAfee had been teasing something big for months. Everyone persuaded him to reveal, but he didn’t until today.

McAfee announced the big news in a way only he can. He uploaded a video on Twitter recapping all the weeks that he teased he’s up to something big. In the concluding moments, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon said, “Pat McAfee, you’re hired!” Michae Cole followed it up by welcoming “The Brand” to the SmackDown commentary team.

The former Indianapolis Colts punter is no stranger to the microphone. He hosts his own show on Sirius XM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio. Plus, McAfee has been regularly featured on several WWE PPV Kick-off shows, as well as NXT TakeOvers.

Get ready to be amazed!

McAfee is no stranger to commentary either. He has guest commentated several times on NXT, especially TakeOvers. The ‘Boomstick‘ will be a regular on the blue brand starting today. However, this won’t be the first time he will be commentating on SmackDown.

McAfee joined the SmackDown commentary for the first time on the 1st November 2019 edition when NXT invaded the blue brand in the build to Survivor Series. But he represented the black and gold brand at the time. This time, it’s a different ballgame. This time, he’s in the team officially!

We already know good McAfee is on the mic. Not just his show, but his promos on NXT have been absolute fire! Not to forget his immaculate wrestling skills. McAfee can easily work a SummerSlam or Survivor Series program as a wrestler too just in case WWE wants that.
