John Cena owes part of the credit to the Patriots

The Cenation Leader met Shay Shariatzadeh in a bar in 2019, more than a year before they got married. While talking to the host on The Howard Stern Show, Cena revealed that neither of the two were supposed to be at the bar that day. As a former fan of the New England Patriots, Cena didn’t want to jinx their victory and was going to watch Super Bowl 53 at his apartment.

“So, we watched the game, and then the table sitting right across from us, this group of five people walked in, couple guys, couple girls, and man, I stopped watching the game. I didn’t even know it was over,” recalled the Hollywood superstar.

Cena was too afraid to make a move on the lady that he found attractive, but when Shay’s friend approached him for a picture, the 46-year-old set a deal with her: “Finally I got the nuts to be like, ‘Only if I can get that girl’s number.'”

This ultimately led to them having their first fan picture together which the couple has framed and hung in their home proudly.

Even after all these years, John Cena hasn’t been able to distance himself from the NFL and was a small part of the Super Bowl this year.

The Kick of Destiny returned for Super Bowl 58. Just like the last time, Rob Gronkowski was supposed to kick and fans were to bet whether the ball would be able to make it past a certain distance. John Cena’s inclusion in the campaigning for this bet was what increased the hype this year.

Although the Kick of Destiny wasn’t supposed to happen at the Super Bowl itself, it still aired from an undisclosed location, making Cena part of the NFL championship.
