Dwayne Johnson‘s passion project, XFL, is now brewing new hopes thanks to its recent merger with fellow Spring Football league, USFL. After struggling with a huge financial blitz months ago, XFL has finally seemed to regain its mojo. Therefore, fans can’t help putting forward their own ideas to make it more marketable. One of them gave the idea of bringing the forgotten ex-NFL quarterback, Colin Kaepernick to the team. While it sounds quite interesting, Johnson dished out a vague and melancholic reply.

The celebrity co-owner revealed XFL thought of this idea in the past and even had a conversation with Kaepernick, but it ended in vain. With this surprising confession of Johnson, the question emerges: did the former NFL talent reject him downright? Well, even if that was not the case, he has all the reasons to do so in the future.

Why Colin Kaepernick should turn down Dwayne Johnson’s $40 million league joining offer?

Colin Kaepernick last played a match for the premium football league back in 2016 and hasn’t been seen on the field since. After starting a staggering career in the field of professional football 12 years back, his concern over social issues saw him in deep water in 2016. He lost his spot in the NFL for kneeling during the national anthem as a part of the protest against racial injustice.

Even if he decides to come back to the world of football, there is a lesser chance for him to be on the board of Johnson’s league.

The first and foremost point to justify this stance is it would mean a degradation of his professional standard to jump ship to XFL. He took the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2013, a feat no XFL quarterback has ever achieved. So, it will be a clear step down for the 35-year-old.

Secondly, it also won’t take him higher monetarily. As recorded, NFL players earn 833% more per week than XFL players. So, the decreased margin of salary might be a huge drawback for the NFL veteran.

Last but not least, he might as well expect a much-awaited call from the NFL sooner or later, given the unfavorable condition of most of the key NFL quarterbacks like Jimmy Garoppolo, Joe Burrow, and Aaron Rodgers due to injury. So, they might consider re-signing the talent to fill the void. If this happens, Kaepernick will readily accept the offer since he is still very much into reuniting with his old home.

But what he’s up to right now?

Colin Kaepernick’s current life scenario outside football

The hiatus proved to be quite happening for the San Francisco 49ers star. He recently took up the role of a full-time father and seems to be quite invested in raising his newborn. Apart from this, he has been a part of various media projects and owned a publication house in recent times.

His social activism shined through his newly minted non-profit organization named The Colin Kaepernick Foundation which is devoted to the upliftment of Black and Brown youth all across the country.

He also co-authored a book named ‘Colin Kaepernick: Change the Game’ alongside Eve L. Ewing. He has shot a Netflix autobiographical series, “Colin in Black & White” to give a clear close-up picture of his life to his fans.

Now, we will be thrilled to see where the renowned NFL star will move forward in terms of his football career. But an XFL debut might be completely off the board as of now.
