Dwayne Johnson is known for his passion for American Football. This became even more evident when he took ownership of XFL. However, he wanted to take things a little further. A few weeks ago, Dwayne Johnson alongside ex-wife and business partner Dany Garcia announced their dream collaboration, the United Football League (UFL). Following the announcement, Garcia has announced when the league’s first season will kick off.

When will Dwayne Johnson’s UFL start?

Dany Garcia posted a picture on her Instagram along with an inflatable balloon reference. In the caption she wrote, “It’s the 10-week countdown to UFL kickoff Ladies and Gentlemen. Let the ramp-up begin!” According to Garcia, the kick-off games for the spring football league’s first season will start in the middle of March 2024.

The merger was announced by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia right on the first day of January 2024. The merger is valued at $23.5 million making it a big achievement in the minor football league. Johnson’s XFL and the spring football league, USFL will be a part of the UFL and Johnson aims to change the spring football scenario with this multi-million dollar deal.

While the kick-off games will be starting in the second or third week of March 2024, the games will begin on March 30.

Johnson had made the big reveal on January 1, 2024. Along with the reveal, he also mentioned what motivated him to take this huge step.

What led to the formation of UFL?

In the same clip in which he had announced the merger, The Brahma Bull talked about what motivated him to work towards this merger. He said the primary reason was his love for the game. Johnson added that just like any other American, the game of football is dearest to his heart. With this merger, he wants to create more opportunities for the people who are involved with the sport.

The second reason why he is working towards this is to help spring football get its footing. He stated that it has been 30 years since the spring football has been struggling to make its name. Now he wants to help the minor leagues grow under his leadership. Both he and Garcia are focusing on flourishing the minor leagues and bringing them to their full glory.
