There was a time when Triple H and Vince McMahon didn’t see eye-to-eye. While many fans may think about DX’s feud with Mr. McMahon, we’re talking about creatively and not in kayfabe. As Hunter climbed up the ladder to where he is today, there were occasions when his and his father-in-law’s views would not match. A resurfaced clip from Stone Cold Steve Austin‘s podcast shows one of these moments.
While The Game may have ushered in a new era of the WWE, Mr. McMahon was not still running things until 2022. However, many changes have occurred since his departure from the WWE and its products.

Dunn has been Mr. McMahon’s long-time friend and right-hand guy. He was in charge of lighting, graphics, and camera work, including pyro, audio, and videos. His 40-year run with the company has often been credited to have helped put WWE on the spot it is today. While Dunn’s work with the company ended, there were times when he would butheads with the future boss, Triple H. One such moment came when Hunter was on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast in 2015.

While discussing the current state of the WWE, Austin remarked that someone in his earpiece asked him to wrap it up. Dunn often did the curtain call on a segment as it reached its time limit. However, Hunter retorted, “Here’s what I don’t get. I have zero stroke?” Austin asked if they could continue for another ten minutes, and Hunter agreed to do so. In 2015, Hunter was part of The Authority that ran the WWE. Much like Mr. McMahon, he was a heel boss who looked only for his benefit in whatever he did. But this segment clearly showed that Dunn didn’t see it that way.

In the end, Austin and Hunter decide to do another five minutes of the interview, during which Hunter clearly says he will get yelled at for this. Despite both Dunn and McMahon leaving the WWE, there have been speculations that the two could be working together once more if McMahon tries to start another wrestling company.
