What happened with Zelina Vega?
WWE had rolled out a policy that prevented Superstars from being on third-party platforms, especially with their in-ring names. WWE claimed the in-ring characters were assets whom the company owned, and Superstars cannot earn revenue using those entities.

However, the company provided a way out. The policy later clarified that if Superstars continue to be on third-party platforms, they will have to share the revenue with the company.
Even though there was some backlash, WWE did not roll back the policy.
Not only did the fans raise their voice against this policy but so did other Superstars. Individuals such as AJ Styles, Sasha Banks, and others tried to have a word with Vince McMahon about the same, but the WWE Chairman did not budge.
Coming to Zelina Vega, she was one of the Superstars who raised her voice against the policy. Now, she had created an account on a website which the company considered a third-party platform. Vince McMahon got to know about the situation and released her from her contract.

Apart from that, Vega had tweeted about her support for unionization, which did not sit well with the company. However, the tweet may not have been the reason for her release since the announcement and her tweet were minutes apart.
Sometime afterwards, Zelina Vega was spotted at the WWE Performance Center, and everyone assumed she would return soon. Well, that’s what happened! Vega is back in town, and she’s going to the ladder match.
