Backlash 2023 finally concluded in spectacular fashion after weeks of hype among fans. To some people’s surprise, the event also had several emotional moments here and there. For example, right before her entry, Zelina Vega had an emotional breakdown. Rhea Ripley was not the reason behind her cries. Moreover, it was something much more personal.
The female wrestler was crying because of her late father. It’s not often that fans find their favorite stars crying in public. So, The Queen’s public expression of grief meant something to her fans. More people might be able to share her grief because she lost her father to the unfortunate terrorist attack in 2001.

Zelina Vega was all set for her match with Rhea Ripley. Ahead of her match with the SmackDown’s Women’s Champion, Vega broke down in tears. This happened because she missed her late father, who passed away during the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. Michael Trinidad was working in one of the twin towers during the unfortunate day.
Although ‘Patriot Day’ is still months away, Vega couldn’t help but shed a tear remembering her father. This could have happened because Backlash was taking place in Puerto Rico. For the unaware, Vega herself is of Puerto Rican descent. So, she couldn’t control her emotions being in a country that was directly connected to her father. When her situation was conveyed to the crowd, fans couldn’t stop cheering Vega inside the arena.
