“You’re Not His Wife”: Nikki Bella Was Once Forced to Defend John Cena After Brie Bella Questioned His Loyalty

It is undeniable that Total Divas and Total Bellas influenced many fans to tune into Raw and SmackDown every week. But these shows also saw a lot of reality TV storylines between WWE superstars like Natalya, Nia Jax, and Naomi. But the biggest stars were The Bella Twins. Not only did they promote themselves, but brought in John Cena and Daniel Bryan to the shows.

But while Brie and Bryan were an established couple before the shows, Cena and Nikki were a new couple. Seeing them on TV was great, as they had fights, romantic moments, and genuine conversations. We, the audience, saw the couple grow into a pair through many episodes. While it was difficult for both of them, they also fought for each other as well.

The Bella Twins once went off on each other for John Cena

One such fight was when Brie was close to delivering her firstborn. Close to her delivery, Brie and Nikki had a conversation about Cena’s presence in the family. While the talk was first about Brie’s daughter calling Cena uncle, it quickly divulged into something else instead. While nothing ugly like a public spat or violence didn’t occur, words can hurt just as brutally as Cena’s Attitude Adjustment.

“I just feel like, when it comes to family, John’s never in the picture,” Brie tells her sister. “Like, he’s always gone.” Nikki replies, “My man is part of this family, and I’m pretty much like his wife…” Nikki fires back. Brie claps back saying, “But you’re not his wife.” “You’re gonna be sad about that one day,” Nikki scoffs. “Why?” Brie asks. “It’s not like she’s ever going to meet him.”

After that, Cena jumped into the conversation and Brie put it coldly to him. But Cena only had witty humor about it to close off the scene. In hindsight, we know that Cena and Nikki aren’t together, but it hasn’t taken away from his relationship with Brie and Nikki’s other family members. According to her, Cena still has great relations with her family, even after their breakup.
