“You Must Be Doing Something Right.”-WWE Legend Compares Jaw-Dropping Forbidden Door Moment to Hulk Hogan’s Iconic “Shake”

AEW X NJPW: Forbidden Door saw a very physical match between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay. From start to finish, the match kept the Canadian fans on the edge of their seats. The duo fought tooth and nail, making their iconic clash a potential match of the year. 

One of the most jaw-dropping moments in the match was when Omega kicked out at 1 to his own finishing move. WWE legend, Bully Ray, compared the response Omega got from the kick out to the pop Hulk Hogan got during his heyday. 

Bully Ray compared Kenny Omega to Hulk Hogan

Without a doubt, Hulk Hogan had a larger-than-life personality in WWE during the Golden Era. His unmatched star power saw him become the torchbearer of the WWE for the longest time. One of the most interesting attributes tied to his matches was when he kicked out at 1 and started hulking up. WWE legend Bully Ray recently likened the response Kenny Omega got at Forbidden Door to the reaction that Hulk Hogan evoked back in the day. 

During the match, Will Ospreay hit Kenny Omega with the latter’s own finisher, The Winged Angel. At that point, it looked as though Omega was going to suffer an embarrassing defeat. However, to everybody’s surprise, Omega powered out of the pin at 1. Much like how Hulk Hogan did back in the day. Reacting to that hair-raising moment, Bully Ray said that Omega is “doing something right”.

He said, “The only thing I can possibly compare it to is Hogan kicking out at 1 and being on his knees and starting to do the shake. Because Kenny got the same reaction. And if I can compare a talent to Hulk Hogan and the reactions that Hulk Hogan would get, you must be doing something right.” 

The kick-out also jogged Ray’s memory back to Hulk Hogan, doing his iconic “shake” after kicking out. Furthermore, Hogan would then deliver his signature Big Boot, followed by his finisher Leg Drop, to finish his matches. 

Nevertheless, in the end, Will Ospreay avenged the loss he suffered earlier this year at Wrestle Kingdom at the hands of Kenny Omega.

Like Bully Ray, another WWE legend gave his thoughts on one of the much-talked-about moments from the Omega-Ospreay fight. 

Bryan Danielson reacts to Will Ospreay using the Tiger Driver 19 on Kenny Omega

At one point during the match, fans were left gobsmacked when Will Ospreay used the Tiger Driver 19. The execution of the move saw Kenny Omega landing head first. Omega was laid out lifeless as Ospeay went for the pin. 

While speaking at the post-show media scrum, Bryan Danielson had high praise for Kenny Omega for taking such a scary move. He said, “That kind of stuff scares me because the injury potential is so great. And I know specifically from like a Kenny Omega who, both him and Ospreay are just fantastic”

However, Danielson further impugned the risk-to-reward ratio from pulling off such a dangerous move. It is safe to bet that Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay without question stole the show.
