Celebrities entering the professional wrestling world are not something new. It has been going on for a long time now. Be it Stephen Amell, putting his hands on Cody Rhodes (Stardust then), or Cyndi Lauper feuding with Roddy Piper, WWE has always kept its doors open for celebrities that are not from a wrestling background.

Currently, Logan Paul is in the spotlight, when it comes to celebrities entering the pro-wrestling from the outside world. Several fans, critics and even wrestlers themselves are concerned with the practice of setting famous people against professional wrestlers for TRP. A 36-year-old wrestler has come forward and raised his concern about the same.

Recently, Seth Rollins appeared on an episode of ‘WWE After The Bell’. During the show, the host asked Rollins about his opinion on the celebrities like Logan paul, who enters the wrestling business from the outside world. To this, ‘The Visionary’ gave a mixed opinion.

Rollins said that there are some obvious benefits of having people from outside of WWE. And Logan Paul is not the only one. WWE has been doing this for decades and will keep on doing so. He gave an example of Lawrence Taylor vs. the late Great Big Man Bigelow match.

Rollins explained that Taylor was already an athlete and had a big name in the NFL. He got a chance to be inside the ring, but he never went out and boasted about that. And that’s how it should be.

While talking to the host about Logan Paul, Rollins said, “I think there are obvious advantages to having people from outside of our world come into our world. I mean, Logan Paul is not a new phenomenon, right? We’ve been doing this in WWE for decades, and we’re going to continue to do it for a long time after Logan Paul’s gone. So, I mean, there’s just a lot to be said about having these types of performers on our show, or whatever they may be doing.”

“I think, you look at Lawrence Taylor, right, versus the Late….Late Great Big Man Bigelow, prime example of a perfect way to utilize these celebrities. But Lawrence Taylor was an athlete beforehand, obviously one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history. And also, he was a guy that, he didn’t go around calling himself a wrestler, he didn’t go around getting a big head thinking that I can do this, I’m so good at this, this is a cakewalk for me.”

Seth Rollins views wrestling as something more than a show business

Seth Rollins further elaborated that wrestling isn’t entirely a show business. It is also about finding talents and performing in front of the crowd over and over again and learning from every mistake.

“I don’t want people going around thinking that’s what wrestling is, that you just paint by numbers, somebody programs you in, and you’re gonna be just fine………That’s just not what it is it. It is making the talent, it is having hundreds and thousands of matches in different cities, in front of different-sized crowds, it’s learning your trade.”

Talking about Logan Paul, Rollins mentioned that he has signed a contract with WWE, where he is supposed to compete in a few matches a year. But it doesn’t make him an ambassador of professional wrestling. And he doesn’t want the future generation to think that being famous is the way into this world.

“And in the Logan Paul situation, I don’t understand what long-term value he’s going to be able to give back to us.It’s, again, one thing if you come in, you do your thing and you leave. But the dude’s got a contract with WWE, the guy is supposed to have a few matches a year. I don’t know what his deal is, but that doesn’t make you an ambassador for the business, that’s not what wrestling is. And I own a wrestling school, I don’t want the next generation of kids coming up in the business thinking that’s how you make it in professional wrestling. Because if everybody follows that model, the business is dead. It’s dead, it doesn’t exist anymore.”

Logan Paul and his current status in WWE

Currently, Logan Paul is feuding with Seth Rollins. He returned to WWE in the Royal Rumble 2023 and eliminated Seth Rollins. Then, he again appeared in the Elimination Chamber PLE during the United States championship match and delivered Rollins a ‘curb stomp’. Since then, the fans are expecting a Logan Paul vs. Seth Rollins match at WrestleMania 39. Although WWE has not officially announced it yet, but the idea behind the feud seems pretty clear.
