Although, it was the penultimate bout of the night, the performance from the two icons stole the show from the main event. In fact, WWE has ranked the moment as the sixth greatest moment in the history of WrestleMania (as per their top playlist on YouTube).

While speaking on a wrestling podcast, Hulk Hogan shared an interesting story related to his Icon vs. Icon match from the PLE. He narrated how his fellow superstar could’ve almost killed him because of a change in plans by Vince McMahon.

One moment that vividly crosses every wrestling fan’s mind is Hogan’s iconic match with Johnson at WM X8. Hogan shared an interesting story from his match against The Rock, who was once his fanboy, in an interview recently.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, the icon explained jokingly how he was almost scarred for life by Kevin Nash’s attack, “We’ve been working together for the last seven or eight years. I’m your boy. He [Kevin Nash] goes, ‘Yeah but it’s WrestleMania’ and I had to lay down with ‘Yeah, but if I’ve had not put my arm up here, you could have killed me.

The moment in reference was the attack made on Hogan after his WrestleMania match. It was due to a change in Vince McMahon’s plans who had wanted to turn Hogan’s face after seeing the reaction from the crowd. Hogan was always cheered by fans before he turned heel during his time at WCW for nWo.

Hogan explained how he was unaware of the change and was surprised at Kevin Nash’s appearance. He said, “All I remember is being on the knees and looking up at big Kev. Kevin’s got both arms over his head with a chair and he’s like, and I’m like ‘Oh my, oh my god, he’s marking out.’ And I never put my hands up, I put my forearm up, bro. And he hit my forearm.”
