How often does it happen that someone gets to meet their idol for the first time on national television? Not too often. But a lucky celeb was once on the receiving end of the surprise as she met her childhood hero John Cena. But before meeting the WWE icon, the woman recalled her childhood connection with the 46-year-old.

She spoke about her love for wrestling, especially towards wrestling superstar Cena, to host Kelly Clarkson on the latter’s eponymous show.

On a November 2019 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, John Cena was one of the guests in the chat show. Along with him, South African rapper Sho Madjozi was also present. The 31-year-old is an ardent fan of Cena, having watched the 16-time World Champion in action on television.

“I grew up in a very rural area, Limpopo in South Africa, and there was one television in my village while we were growing up. And we got to watch two TV shows. One was a local drama called ‘Generations’, and the other one was wrestling,” she said. The love was evident as the singer has a song named after the wrestling legend, which she performed on the show.

That, however, isn’t the only connection Madjozi shares with the Fast X actor. During her childhood, she would admittedly jostle her cousins and pretend to be a particular wrestler. Any guess who she would copy? The answer is obvious. “I made this song cause it’s really about, you know cause John Cena always used to say ‘You can’t see me’, so, when we used to play wrestling with my cousins, I used to pretend to be John Cena,” the 31-year-old said.

On the other hand, Cena thanked her for dedicating the song to him and praised the song for its vibe. Despite growing up in poverty, Madjozi’s dedication to her craft has helped her break the shackles. Today, she is worth $5 million, which is quite an achievement given how she started.

But the superfan also had a major complaint about her idol and tried to resolve it with him.

Sho Madjozi talks about not having a wish fulfilled

If you have been following John Cena’s career, you would probably know his title wins, the memorable matches, and the promos he has been a part of. Apart from all that, he’s also into humanitarian work. The 46-year-old has fulfilled a record 600+ wishes for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, becoming the organization’s most prolific ambassador. Hence Madjozi reached out to the perfect man to have hers fulfilled.

“So if I didn’t go by Sho Madjozi, I would have gone by John Cena probably. As I learned back then, that’s already someone’s name, so, I didn’t,” she told the host before Cena made his entry. Once he was there, the artiste brought it up with him. At first ‘The Peacemaker’ told her to get permission from his father, as he’s also named John Cena (Sr.), but then urged his fan to stick with her name as she’s going well for herself.

That coming from her idol himself must have been gratifying for the South African. And that’s how John Cena once again resolved another conflict involving him.
