Some would support the point of view that Dwayne Johnson is one of the most well-built WWE wrestlers. While that could be true, one should note that his physique isn’t the only thing that would make him an intimidating fellow. According to WWE manager, Paul Heyman, The Rock has all kinds of abilities of an ‘alpha male’. This also includes his charm to make people buy into his words.

Heyman was recently featured in a podcast where he shed some light on Dwayne Johnson’s time in WWE. Although The Rock doesn’t regularly appear in wrestling matches and shows, he is a WWE legend nevertheless. Keeping this in mind, Heyman made a critical analysis of Johnson’s ‘catchy’ catchphrases.

Appearing on ‘Tetragrammaton with Rick Rubin’, Heyman couldn’t help but talk about the wrestlers he considers to be powerful. That’s why, The Wise Man brought up Dwayne Johnson’s name. He was talking about how good catchphrases are not ’emotionally’ appealing.

Then what is it about them that makes them so appealing? Heyman believes that the ‘bottom line’ of making a catchphrase successful is the dominant alpha male behind it.

If you smell what The Rock is cookin’ — same thing, very alpha male. Very declarative. Very ‘boss’. Very dominant. You’re all my submissive b*tches. You’ll be subservient to my vision because ‘what The Rock is cookin’ if you smell, it is a rhetorical question,” said Heyman. “It’s imposing one’s will on the other person.

Heyman strongly believes that the reason why Dwayne Johnson’s most simple catchphrases are popular is because he speaks them as he owns them.

During his days as ‘Rocky Maivia’, Johnson wasn’t as popular among his fans. This is because the wrestler was still growing as a character. Since WWE wanted to experiment with his character, Vince McMahon, the CEO of WWE at the time, suggested him to kiss his backside whenever the next episode goes live.

But he had recently won a championship and declined to do the segment, other WWE employees also believed that this would destroy his character.

The former wrestler stood his ground until McMahon withdrew the idea. This also connects with how Johnson proved his ‘declarative’ side despite him still being a relatively new talent in the company.
