Drew McIntyre made a controversial move by tweeting a photo of himself with Jack Perry and then deleting it. This was a direct reference to the moment that CM Punk was fired from AEW. It was widely assumed that McIntyre did it to further the heat between himself and the Second City Saint. WWE has always had a penchant for not referring to rival promotions or stars. However, it looks like they were ok with the Scotsman’s jibe involving the AEW star.
The pro wrestling faithful was taken aback by Michael Cole’s reference to this event during Drew McIntyre’s entrance on this week’s Raw. Cole mentioned what McIntyre had been doing over time and how those actions were intended to take a dig at his adversary, CM Punk. It appears that the corporation is fine with the Scottish Psychopath’s reference to other promotions.
Furthermore, no action was taken against McIntyre following this event. It is very interesting to see how WWE has structured the feud to be very closely related to the wrestlers’ real lives, which is why the rivalry has showcased a personal layer filled with intensity.

Drew McIntyre and CM Punk participated in this maneuver
The involvement of WWE in the Scottish Psycopath’s questionable action was the most contentious aspect of it. Some WWE sources have stated this, revealing that the entire organization and both wrestlers have been plotting these kind of actions. The reason for this is simple: they want to make the feud as big as possible because it will be Punk’s first return to the ring in a decade in a singles battle in WWE. As Punk had a interesting match in 2014 where he appeared in the 30 man Royal Rumble after which he was fired from the company for some controversies.

The stakes are enormous now that both wrestlers have taken personal jabs at each other. The tweet may have been the idea of Punk himself, since it will provide even more dimension to the narrative and much more. Although it is unclear why the tweet was removed, it is possible that it was a business decision. Nonetheless, the inclusion of Seth Rollins as a special guest referee has recently added a new dimension to the proceedings.
