When WWE declared the news of their merger with Endeavor, UFC’s parent company, fans of combat sports were ecstatic. However, the same can’t be said about the employees working for them. WWE laid off many talents within days of the completion of their merger as a part of its restructuring process.

It was inevitable, as there was an overlap of resources when the two behemoths combined. A few back-office employees, including top executives, were also laid off, while some resigned. Another WWE executive, who reportedly answered directly to WWE bigwig Vince McMahon, has added her name to this list after her resignation came to the fore yesterday.

HR head resigns from WWE after working for a mere 17 months

WrestleVotes tweeted on October 6th news about the departure of Suzette Ramirez-Carr. The caption read, “Suzette Ramirez-Carr, who was an Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer, reporting directly to Vince McMahon has informed WWE she is stepping down from her role.“

Suzette Ramirez-Carr joined WWE as a top executive in May 2022 and reported directly to McMahon. WWE released a press statement declaring her inclusion to the team at the time of her onboarding.

The statement described Ramirez Carr as someone with “Nearly three decades of executive experience, including senior positions with United Talent Agency (UTA), Beautycounter and Oaktree Capital Management. During her tenure, she led the Human Resources, DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion), Facilities, and Internal Communications functions.“

Suzette Ramirez-Carr was working as the HR head of WWE. Before this, she did her Masters in Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan and later worked for Oaktree Capital Management as MD and Global Head of HR for nine years. She was working for Beautycounter as Chief People Officer before she moved to WWE.

The reason for Ramirez-Carr’s resignation is not clear. But it is surprising that it comes amidst the departure of many top executives within the company. Since WWE completed its merger with Endeavor, a bit of restructuring was on the line.

Over 100 employees along with top executives laid off by WWE

The ground-breaking merger resulted in a substantial reduction of the labor force for WWE. The first phase of the restructuring resulted in around 100 people losing their jobs in various departments, like marketing, analytics, graphic design, and live events.

Some of the top executives who are left out from the new set-up include CFO Frank A. Riddick III, VP of International & Platform Strategy Andy Levine, EVP of Development and Digital Jamie Horowitz, Brand Director Kimberly Kierkegaard, and EVP & Head of Marketing Catherine Newman. Wife of legendary wrestler, The Ultimate Warrior, Dana Warrior had also been laid off.
