As the curtain rises on the ongoing turmoil in the entertainment world, uncertainty looms over professional wrestling. The screen actors guild, known as SAG-AFTRA, is on strike, leaving performers in the throes of financial instability. Amidst this scenario, WWE fans have raised hope for the return of WWE icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. With the ongoing strike in Hollywood, some have suggested that there are chances of The Rock showing up in the squared circle once again. But one person close to The Brahma Bull has his reservations over a grand comeback by DJ.

Dwayne Johnson’s Reckoning in the Wrestling Ring

The speculation of The Rock stepping back into the squared circle seems irresistible. However, the voice of experience, former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz, reminds us that appearances can be deceiving. Gewirtz, who collaborates with his production company, Seven Bucks Productions, shares insights into the potential consequences of such a return. In a conversation on The Masked Man Show Gewirtz gave a subtle hint as to how things might go.

He said, “I would be shocked if The Rock appeared anytime soon while the strike is going on, but I would be equally, if not more shocked if The Rock never appeared in a WWE ring again and figuring in the storyline at some point.

He further added, “It’s a bad look for a prominent actor like The Rock, Cena [John Cena], Batista [Dave Batista] to appear on an entertainment program while there is a strike going on.”

The chances of The Rock re-entering the world of professional wrestling amidst a strike are far from ideal. The entertainment landscape, already grappling with larger global issues, faces a moral dilemma. In the midst of strife, is it right for entertainment giants to step into the spotlight?
According to Gewirtz, a return not only for The Rock but for any wrestler-turned-actor may not go down well within Hollywood circles given the ongoing strike.
Gewirtz also believes the storyline needs to be thoroughly crafted and thought about if The Rock wants to enter the ring once again for the Bloodline Saga.

The actors’ group, SAG-AFTRA, is fighting with the people who make movies and TV shows. They’re not happy with how much they get paid and the rights they have. This fight is affecting a lot of things, and it’s also connected to The Rock’s pro wrestling comeback.

Gewirtz’s point is important. Even if  The Rock wanted to be on WWE, it might not be the right time because of the strike. The Rock is not just a pro wrestler; he’s also a big actor. If he shows up on TV while other actors are not working, it could cause problems. He is caught between two things – his pro wrestling past and his acting present.
