Brock Lesnar is a once-in-a-lifetime athlete. After playing a monstrous heel for a long time, he turned into a crowd-loving face, but still kept his aura and delivered every time he stepped out into the arena. What makes Lesnar so unique is that WWE treats him as a special attraction, which adds to his mystique. The company is now looking to implement the same formula for a former WWE Women’s Champion.

When Ronda Rousey first arrived in WWE, she was a global star. She made her debut at WrestleMania and would become one of the first women to the main event, ‘The Show of Shows’, a year later.

Since then her graph has gone down, and she has become just another female competitor in the promotion. But now it seems WWE may revert to building Rousey as a special attraction much like ‘The Beast’.

Can WWE make Rousey the ‘Brock Lesnar’ of Women’s division?

Rousey once seen as a cut above the rest in the WWE Women’s division, has fallen in the pecking order recently. Some may argue that the likes of Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch are bigger stars than the former UFC Champion right now.

WWE is now looking to correct that and transform the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’ into an even bigger star.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlingNews.co) said, They want to get her back to ‘special attraction, big Brock Lesnar star.’ So that’s the goal of what they’re doing right now. The belief was that at the end, because she’s [working with babyface] Liv Morgan, [Ronda] ends up as a heel. What they’re doing now isn’t necessarily to make her a heel, it’s to make her a big, big star.”

Meltzer explained, “Here’s the thing. The idea for Ronda Rousey actually is to get her to be what she was before, which is to break out of the pack, mainline woman Superstar. Not just a woman on the roster who is below [Bianca] Belair and all that, which she kind of was becoming.”

Given the fact that WWE has a stacked women’s division right now, they will have their work cut out to make Rousey ‘special again’.

The mystique of the UFC Hall of Famer when she first arrived in WWE has been somewhat lost. The task is to restore that aura and make her stand out. We saw a glimpse of that at the Royal Rumble earlier this year and they can do again it.

When will Rousey return to WWE?

So far WWE is playing out the suspension angle for the former SmackDown Women’s Champion.

The promotion will hope to build fan interest and anticipation when she returns to programming.

The idea of going with a ‘special attraction’ character could be a perfect way to bring Ronda Rousey to the level of stardom and develop the fan connection she enjoyed in her early WWE days.
