WWE Veteran Pulls Off a Will Smith on Live Television

The Academy Awards 2022 are still trending everywhere on social media. The infamous slap by Will Smith is now a hit meme and is used by plenty, including celebrities. Obviously, many WWE superstars have used the reference and commented on it jokingly.

The waves of this incident have also reached the shores of Monday Night RAW. WWE commentator and retired wrestler Corey Graves said a similar dialogue to Will Smith, during the women’s tag team match. As Graves’ fiancee Carmella was on the ring, the comment he made was compared to Smith shouting to Chris Rock about not involving his wife’s name in jokes.

Corey Graves Shouts Out the ‘Will Smith Warning’

Nobody at yesterday’s Academy Awards saw Will Smith’s action coming. It is very common for presenters, who are most of the time comedians, to joke about the personal life of celebrities. But this time, Best Actor award winner Will Smith could not take a joke, as it offended the medical condition of his beloved wife. After slapping Chris Rock on stage, he shouted, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f****ing mouth!”. To which, Rock replied, “I am going to.”

Now, yesterday at Monday Night RAW, a similar dialogue was shouted out by commentator Corey Graves. The women’s tag team match was between two four-member teams; Sasha Banks, Naomi, Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan Vs Carmella, Queen Zelina Vega, Natalya & Shayna Baszler.

During the match, commentator Corey Graves was put in a difficult situation as his fiancee Carmella was apparently losing. When the match moved closer to the climax, the others on the mic had to talk about Carmella’s performance. And just like Will Smith, Corey couldn’t take it and he warned Michael Cole, “You keep my fiancee’s name out of your mouth!”. In the thrilling eight-women match, the faces secured the win with Ripley‘s Riptide slam and pinfall on Vega.

Fans Reacting To Corey Graves’ RAW Warning

Will Smith won the Best Actor award after the slapping incident and apologized for his behavior during his acceptance speech. Nevertheless, he talked about ”how love will make you do crazy things” both as a reference to his movie ‘King Richard’ and an explanation of what happened. In this case, Corey Graves did a similar thing as he could not accept the commentators saying his fiancee is not performing well.

However, under the tweet by TV host Denise Salcedo, that was about Corey Graves’ shouting, fans reacted to Corey following the footsteps of Will Smith. Some of the comments read,

“I Totally spit out my drink when Graves Said that” 

“Who did he slap”,

“You just knew WWE was gonna jump on that train lol”.
