The latest edition of SmackDown saw the debut match of Grayson Waller against WWE Hall of Famer Edge. But the Rated R Superstars’ return to SmackDown was overshadowed by the absence of LA Knight. Although the fans enjoyed Edge’s Babyface promo, the WWE Universe dearly missed LA Knight’s appearance on the main show. 

Nonetheless, Edge’s comeback provided an opportunity for Grayson Waller to show the WWE Universe what exactly he was made of later in the main event as the duo collided one-on-one. 

Why was LA Knight not present on SmackDown?

While Edge felt the adulation from the fans upon his return, the WWE Universe was also clamoring to see LA Knight so much that Edge’s return match did not hold much significance. It would be a travesty to say that Madison Square Garden did not enjoy Edge’s match, as “you still got it” chants rained down during his match. But the fact that LA Knight was not slated for an appearance on SmackDown disappointed his fans. 

In case you’re wondering why LA Knight did not make his appearance during the show, it was simply because he was booked to lay waste to The Hit Row during the pre-show. Knight interrupted The Hit Row and destroyed Top Dolla and Ashante Adonis.

After making quick work of the stable in the pre-show, Knight closed the segment in style, saying, “Let me talk to ya!” However, Knight’s appearance was not televised.

Ahead of Money in the Bank, LA Knight was rumored to win the namesake match against six other stars. But rumors were laid to rest as Damien Priest prevailed. Nevertheless, LA Knight is still one of the fastest-rising stars and a fan favorite. Sooner or later, he is bound to receive the push that he deserves. Meanwhile, Edge is drawing closer to the end of his wrestling career. 

WWE Universe condemns Triple H and WWE for not booking LA Knight to appear on the main show

In the main event match, Edge defeated Grayson Waller in the latter’s debut match on SmackDown. After getting embarrassed by John Cena in London, Waller started his in-ring career by suffering a defeat at the hands of Edge. However, Waller did put up a fight against Edge. 

Ultimately, Waller got caught mid-air with a Spear, leading to his loss. While the match was nothing short of entertaining, fans in Madison Square Garden did not get what they came to see. Fans on Instagram slammed Triple H for not utilizing LA Knight on WWE TV.

Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see if WWE involves LA Knight in a storyline going forward.
