After standing tall on last week’s Friday Night SmackDown, everyone is wondering the next step for the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. SmackDown New Year’s Day edition preview

The final SmackDown of 2020 did great numbers on FOX thanks to some great action and storytelling. Roman Reigns kicked off the show and defended his Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in a Steel Cage Match. Daniel Bryan finally put an end to his tussle with Jey Uso, and Big E won the Intercontinental Championship to close the show.

With all the exciting action last week, WWE.com has announced some exciting matches and segments for tomorrow’s show. ‘Head of the Table’ Roman Reigns has made a special request to WWE management after his victory against KO last week. There are no details on exactly what the request was, and as of now, all we can do is wait and watch. Perhaps a program to kick off his next feud?

Alongside Reigns’ request, WWE have announced two more matches to kick off 2021 in style. The SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks will team up with the ‘EST of WWE’ Bianca Belair to take on Bayley and Carmella. We expect this to be an exciting contest between four of WWE’s best female Superstars and possibly the match of the night.

And finally, another match that WWE announced is New Intercontinental Champion Big E taking on King Corbin in a non-title match. Big E is riding on a wave of momentum after his title win against Sami Zayn last week, but King Corbin is no ordinary player.

Corbin can go to any extent to walk out as victor and insert himself into the IC Title picture. He’s also got Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake by his side.

‘The Messiah’ Seth Rollins was also expected to make his return to SmackDown on this week’s episode, but WWE haven’t made any official mention of it yet. Seems like there is a change of plans.
