WWE headed to Scotland for the second edition of Clash of the Castle, an event that featured a number of valuable matchups. Among these, the most anticipated one was undoubtedly the main event for the world heavyweight title. With the home idol Drew McIntyre trying to take back the belt, he won at WrestleMania XL.

While the matches were memorable at the Paid Live Event, there were a few botches that found their place on the internet to haunt the WWE and the wrestlers. During the main event of the night, Damian Priest attempted to hit the Scottish Warrior with his traditional middle-rope suicide dive. This time, unfortunately, it was not performed well by the World Heavyweight Champion. He got stuck with his right foot between the middle and top ropes, risking a serious injury.

Jada Cargill too suffered a similar fate, as during her triple threat match to defend her tag team title with Bianca Belair, the former AEW star performed what looked like a cross-body from the apron to the ring. However, she lost her footing and fell flat on her stomach before she could reach her opponent. But why such sloppy moves? Did they not rehearse enough? Well, according to the WWE, the ring is to blame.

WWE shifts the blame on the ring

The botch was left for all to see. And it surely led to a lot of online discussions about the quality of the matches, as such botches often kill the essence of the match. This surely piqued the interest of renowned pro wrestling insiders Fightful, as they had a word with a WWE source about the two accidents in the ring. And according to the source, the ropes of the ring are to be blamed for them.

On the Fightful Patreon page, they revealed, “When we asked about the number of slips on the ropes, a WWE source chalked it up to the ropes in Scotland and bad luck. They’re not particularly concerned moving forward.” Throughout the match, the Judgment Day member could be seen in pain and limping.

After a later report, it was confirmed that the Heavyweight Champion did not suffer any injuries and that Priest would be able to defend his title against a returning Seth Rollins at the Money in the Bank. A matchup that everyone is waiting for. And one that surely would go down without any botches to be seen. So hopefully they check the ropes this time. What did you think? Was it actually the rope’s fault? Let us know in the comments.
