Apart from being a gifted wrestler, past WWE Champion CM Punk also possesses a sound mic game. He has, throughout his career, cut some legendary promos. One such was after in 2005 after winning the Ring Of Honor title.

This seemed to have been the basis of Rollins and Cole’s combined promo. During the October 2 segment on RAW, Cole referred to the WWE World Heavyweight Champion as the ‘manipulator’ and ‘puppeteer’. These to a normal viewer, may sound like just any adjectives, but for the wrestling nerds with a penchant for conspiracy theories, they unveiled a link related to Punk.

During the aforementioned 2005 segment, Punk had said, “This is my stage. This is my theater. YOU are my puppets, and I pulled those marionette strings.” So the reference is strong and indicative of what’s to come.

Not just on October 2, even in the last episode, The Monday Night Messiah had called himself ‘the best In the world’, which all wrestling fans will know is Punk’s tagline. Not to forget that Rollins has been open about his dislike for The Second City Saint in the past. The World Heavyweight champion even went as far as to call him a ‘cancer’ and told him to stay away from him.

So, don’t be surprised if you see the titantron display that iconic cross-arm logo on one of the WWE programs soon. After all, it’s the trading season between AEW and WWE and we could see Punk make his comeback to the Stamford-based promotion.
