On the latest edition of WWE Raw, Edge wrestled Damien Priest in the show’s main event. After a hard-fought battle, the WWE Hall of Famer eventually came out on top.

Following the match, Edge spoke to his hometown audience in Toronto as RAW went off the air. During an emotional address, he made a shocking revelation about his plans to soon retire from the WWE.

Edge spoke about his early wrestling days and his first wrestling match at Monarch Park 30 years ago. He said ‘knew’ that one day he would be wrestling in front of his hometown fans.

The Rated-R superstar then talked about his early retirement in 2011 and how he had to fight to get back into the ring and thanked fans for their support. Edge then revealed his plans to have one last match in Toronto, alluding to his retirement.

“I can’t wait to do it some more. I can’t wait to hopefully come back one last time, one last time here in Toronto. I’m looking at the calendar, we usually come here in August. So next August, I plan on seeing each and every one of you, and in a perfect world, we’ll all say goodbye to each other that night. Hey, that’s okay, man. This is the place for me to do it”, he said.

Earlier, in an interview with Bleacher Report, Edge said that he is enjoying every moment of his current in WWE, but has very less time left as an active wrestler.

How did the fans react to Edge’s retirement news?

There is no doubt that this announcement turned the experience of the fans live in attendance a bit sour. It also garnered varying reactions from the fans on Twitter.

Some were happy that Edge can finally go out on his terms, others said they weren’t ready for his second retirement so soon. Few of them also clamored to see certain wrestlers be his final opponent.

There is no doubt that this sudden announcement by Edge has surprised. What fans will be hoping now is that they get to see a number of high quality feuds and matches in the coming months involving the former Brood Member. Edge has already put on bangers with the likes of Seth Rollins and Randy Orton, fans know there is more to come from him.

After Edge’s gruelling main event win over Damien Priest, the rest of the Judgement Day ran to the ring to attack the former WWE champion. Finn Balor hit a Coup De Grace and they looked to go for a Con-Chair-to when Edge’s wife Beth Phoenix jumped over the barricade and into the ring.

Beth snatched the chair and threatened Judgement Day, leading to an intense stare-down between her and Rhea Ripley.

This will be an interesting next angle in the Edge vs Judgement Day storyline. Edge and Beth Phoenix have recently teamed up when the duo teamed up to face another WWE couple, Miz and Maryse at Royal Rumble 2022.

It looks a mixed gender feud could be next on the cards for Edge as he would look to join forces with the ‘Glamazon’ to take on the Judgement Day.
