The start of this year saw Cody Rhodes return to in-ring action after recuperating from his pectoral injury. Following his return, The American Nightmare was involved in a brutal feud with Roman Reigns and his Bloodline stable. It culminated in a mega clash at WrestleMania 39 on April 2. While months have passed since that main event bout, Rhodes seemingly hasn’t let go of the rivalry.

In fact, he stoked the fire during the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, while subtly trolling the Anoa’i family stable.

Opening the September 25 episode of the flagship brand at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, The Prince of Pro Wrestling addressed a burning issue- the arrival of Jey Uso. The move was facilitated by Rhodes, who has now angered a part of the RAW roster with his unpopular decision.

While talking about the issue, he said, “We are not in the third innings boys.” This is a reference to a comment made by Paul Heyman during the post-event press conference at SummerSlam in August. The 58-year-old WWE legend had said that The Bloodline was still in the “Bottom of the third” innings.

Rhodes, as always, has rejected Heyman’s claim. He also hinted at a move to SmackDown as he stated that someone has to move to the blue brand in order to compensate for Jey Uso’s arrival on RAW.

Rhodes and Heyman has a long history. Heyman, 58, is arguably the greatest managers in WWE’s history, but Cody Rhodes doesn’t think so.

In an interview recently, Rhodes picked another legend- Bobby Heenan- ahead of Heyman and in fact, refused to acknowledge the latter as a manager, calling him Roman Reigns’ real and TV rep. Reacting to Rhodes’ comment, Heyman shot back with a vicious counter.

He called The American Nightmare the fourth best wrestler in the family- behind Dusty Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes and even Brandi Rhodes. But, it looks like Cody Rhodes doesn’t mind the punches as he also likes to give back.
