With every WWE PLE event doing big numbers and breaking records left and right, there’s no denying that fans are waiting to see what Triple H and WWE do next. SummerSlam was a big event, both financially and engagement-wise, so the company will only try to go up and above with its next event.

As advertised we know that the next event is Payback which will be held in September. Here are all the details you might want to know about the event and the matches that could take place at the event.

WWE Payback is taking place on September 2, 2023. Just like many of his PLEs, Triple H is organizing the event on a Saturday, therefore, it will surely clash with AEW’s new show, Collision. WWE Payback 2023 will begin at 8:00 PM ET on September 2 in the United States and will take place at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. You can buy tickets for the show on the official website.

Kurt Angle’s hometown will see a PLE event after more than five years as the last one was back in 2018, Extreme Rules. While it had an iconic 30-minute Iron Man match between Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler, Pittsburgh can expect to see some of the match-of-the-year contenders in their arena this September.

Matches we could see at WWE Payback 2023:

Seth Rollins versus Shinsuke Nakamura (World Heavyweight Championship)

The one match that was instantly catapulted to the main event is Seth Rollins’ title defense against Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura’s Kinshasa to close WWE Raw gave the show a great twist.

The two last met at a random SmackDown in 2021, but they also had a classic match at Survivor Series in a champion vs champion clash. But this time, it’s going to be very different, as Nakamura hasn’t been a part of the main event since forever.

Jey Uso versus Jimmy Uso (The Bloodline Feud)

While Roman Reigns is coming to SmackDown this week, there’s no indication he’ll defend his title going forward. The promotion is not even advertising him for the Payback event. But this Friday, he may cement a rivalry that will set the stage on fire. With Jimmy Uso’s betrayal at SummerSlam, everyone is expecting to see The Usos face each other at Payback.

But it will also be very interesting to see where Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Paul Heyman will be during this battle. As Heyman said, this is the ‘third inning’ of The Bloodline’s massive saga.

Rhea Ripley versus Raquel Rodriguez (World Women’s Championship)

Concerning the Women’s titles, Raw clearly showed that Raquel Rodriguez will be the one to take on Rhea Ripley. With repeated back-and-forth between the two women, it looks like WWE will finally put them against each other.

Ripley was another woman who took silent jabs at WWE for not giving her a match at SummerSlam. Also, fans have been clamoring to see Ripley finally get a great rivalry after winning the title back in April.

Iyo Sky versus Asuka/ Iyo Sky versus Zelina Vega (WWE Women’s Championship)

After shocking the world by winning the WWE Women’s Championship, Iyo Sky has major competition on SmackDown. Asuka will be coming for her payback on the aptly named PLE, or it could even be Zelina Vega, as the LWO member has defeated Sky on two prior occasions.

GUNTHER versus Chad Gable (Intercontinental Championship)

Raw also saw one major match get set in stone, GUNTHER vs Chad Gable. The Olympian picked up a grand victory on Raw in the Fatal-four-way match and it was announced that he will get an opportunity down the line.

With Imperium targeting Alpha Academy as well, this story is not just going to be about the title as well. There are deeper levels to this feud and in the coming weeks, we’ll definitely see how Imperium gets inside Gable’s head before his biggest match in WWE.

Becky Lynch & Shayna Baszler vs Trish Stratus & Zoey Stark

The feud that started all the way back in April will finally have its last bout on next week’s Raw. But we don’t think this is the last time we’ll see Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch go at each other.

Also, after being snubbed off of SummerSlam, Lynch might finally have her big PLE match. But this time it could be a tag team bout with her tagging with Shayna Baszler versus Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark, especially after events of this week’s RW

LA Knight versus The Miz

To end this prediction session, we think LA Knight will also get his match with The Miz, given the popularity of their mic segment on Raw. This will be a big challenge for Knight as this could be his first one-on-one PLE match on the main roster in a while. While he’s a fan-favorite already, he’ll have to prove that he can be depended upon in WWE.
