Probably for the first time in WWE history, one pay-per-view is scheduled just one week after another. After SummerSlam last Sunday, WWE ThunderDome will now host Payback on August 30.
Due to lack of time and build up, the company has some rushed matches. There’s little to no innovation. After the events of last night’s SmackDown, we have six matches on the cards.

There are three title matches in Payback as of now, and the rest are singles and tag team matches.
WWE Universal Championship – “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (C) vs. Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns in a ‘no holds barred triple threat match’
It is Roman Reigns’ first PPV match after his return as a possible heel. He attacked “The Fiend” after his win at SummerSlam. Apart from that, no angle in his story enables him to earn a title shot with his return.
Braun Strowman is using his rematch clause to fight Bray Wyatt. Their SummerSlam match was one of the best of the night. Fans are hoping to see the ‘Monster among Men’ wreak havoc in the ring.
After last night’s SmackDown, Paul Heyman has been thrown at Roman’s side to make things interesting.
Prediction – “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt retains the title.
Wyatt is in his first reign as the Universal Champion. There is no point in making him the Champion for one week. After the loss, there will be a possibility for any one out of Reigns or Strowman to take a complete drift down the dark side.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Sasha Banks and Bayley (C) vs. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler
As we reported earlier, there might be some trouble in paradise for the Golden Role models. On the other hand, their opponents Baszler and Jax don’t see eye to eye as well.
Prediction – Jax and Baszler win the title.
Bayley and Banks are bound to fall apart. It’s better to give them a reason with this loss. Baszler and Jax can start their tag team of the most unlikely allies.
United States Championship – Apollo Crews (C) vs. Bobby Lashley
After MVP, this is Crews’ latest feud with a member of the Hurt Business. As of now, there has been no news if MVP or Shelton Benjamin will be allowed at ringside. During Crews’ match with MVP at SummerSlam, the rest of the Hurt Business was banned from ringside.
Prediction – Bobby Lashley will win the title.
Like we said before, Crews vs. the Hurt Business feud has been going on for a while. Fans are now getting bored. In addition, the group desperately needs this victory to protect its credibility and gain momentum.
Rey and Dominik Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins and Murphy
This feud started with Rollins and Rey’s eye for an eye match at WWE Extreme Rules. After that, Rey Mysterio was absent for a while. Utilizing that absence, Rollins and Murphy assaulted Rey’s son, Dominik.
The tag team match seems like an extension of Dominik’s SummerSlam match with Rollins.
Prediction – Rey Mysterio and Dominik will win
The Mysterio Duo will win the match and probably start competing in Tag Team matches. It will be shameful for an icon like Rey to lose in a tag team match against the ‘Monday Night Messiah’ and his sidekick.
Keith Lee vs. Randy Orton
Keith Lee got involved in a rushed feud after he made his debut in the main roster. Randy Orton injured WWE Champion Drew McIntyre’s skull with three punt kicks. They both got into a fight where Lee showed strength. But, in WWE, strength is not everything.
Prediction – Randy Orton wins
WWE has brought back the vicious heel side of Randy Orton after quite a few years. Considering that this is the former NXT Champion’s first main roster PPV, chances are bleak for Lee. However, things might change if there are some outside interferences.
Baron Corbin vs. Matt Riddle
This is the latest match on the card. Corbin has been bullying Riddle since he debuted on the SmackDown roster. Last night after Riddle humiliated Corbin in the ring, the latter decided to take on the Original Bro to prove he does not belong in his kingdom.
Prediction – Matt Riddle wins.

Like Keith Lee, this is Riddle’s first PPV in the main roster. However, Riddle has been around for a while and has proven himself in the ring. Keeping in mind the ‘bullying angle,’ WWE will prove a point to its younger audience by making Corbin a loser.
As of now, these are the matches. WWE can add any stipulation at any time through social media. We will keep you updated.
