Wrestling fans were shocked to their core when WWE announced that the reigning IMPACT knockout champion Mickie James will make an appearance at the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble PPV.
Yes, that is true. After all the bad blood between the five-time WWE Women’s champion and Vince McMahon, it looks like the two parties have reached an amicable decision.

Speaking in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, James revealed who made the first move by inviting her for the Rumble PPV.
“Johnny [John Laurinaitis] reached out to Scott [D’Amore] to first just talk to him professionally. This has never really been done before by them. IMPACT [Wrestling] worked together with WWE in the past for other things, when [Ric] Flair went in the Hall of Fame and Christian Cage. So it wasn’t unforeseen that it could possibly happen… Scott first reached out to me to see what my interest was. We were all able to make this happen somehow,” she confessed.

Now, we all know that Vince McMahon doesn’t let bygones be bygones. However, the bad blood between Mickie James and WWE took the internet by storm when the former WWE superstar revealed she got her belongings in a trash bag after the company released her in 2021.
With the forbidden door being crossed in an unprecedented manner, it seems as though things are good between all parties.
Mickie James is not the first superstar to cross the forbidden door
The term ‘Forbidden Door’ means that two wrestling promotions are working collectively and superstars from both companies can appear on promotions interchangeably. Just like AEW and IMPACT Wrestling worked together when AEW superstar Kenny Omega became the IMPACT World Champion.
James is not the first to crossover as the likes of Ric Flair and Christian have already done so (these were not for matches). However, she will be the first to enter a WWE match while being the champion of another company.
