The Dudley Boyz are one of the most accomplished tag teams of all time. Debuting in ECW in 1995, Bubba Ray and his brother from another mother, D-Von, won eight tag team titles and became the deadliest villains in the history of wrestling entertainment.

Later, they evolved through WWE, during which Ray had a solo run as well. After finally parting ways with WWE for the second time in 2018, Ray worked with the Ring of Honor and retired in 2020.

Bubba Ray Dudley teased Stone Cold Steve Austin for backing out of a match

Bubba Ray is renowned for speaking his mind straightforward that it sparks controversies. Here, in Broken Skull Sessions with Stone Cold Steve Austin, he talked about his singles match against Brock Lesnar in 2002. On June 10th episode of RAW, a storyline between Austin and ‘The Beast Incarnate’ was in the cards. But, for some personal reasons, Austin refused to partake, and Bubba Ray had to take the work instead.

Speaking about his singles run, Bully Ray said, “And in my singles run, I get to work with this kid named Brock Lesnar. Because, one night, ‘somebody’ (referring Stone Cold) didn’t wanna work with him”. Austin immediately picked up a beer, and both laughed. “You gotta appreciate that one. Come on!” Ray added. A tint of embarrassment was vividly visible on The Texas Rattlesnake’s face.

Apparently, he was not happy that he had to be a part of an unadvertised tournament-style TV match. Because if he was losing to Lesnar, he wanted it to be beneficial to both parties. Nevertheless, what WWE planned as a mere King of the Ring match in RAW could have made histories if it was part of a main event such as WrestleMania.
